-POREfessional By Benefit-

So I had heard so much about this primer by Benefit and being the huge benefit fan I could not keep my hands off it.
I'v been using this for about 2 months now. Now Benefit is not a cheap brand and it makes this huge hole  in the pocket every time I think of getting a product from them.
The best part that makes it easy for people to decide before making an investment are the deluxe sizes that Benefit has, Which are also quite steep for the price but then again The finer things in life don't come cheap.

I first got my travel size POREfessional which is a tiny 7 ml tube for PKR 800 from Bells which is an online page. Now iv ordered a Full size which is PKR 3650 (heavy breathing) for a 22ml Tube. A little goes a long way for this product so its worth the investment.

-Product Description-
Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skin tones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

-My Experience-
I don't have huge pores, but it still did make a difference, Helped my Hello Flawless Foundation stay on for longer for sure.Even after 3 hours out in the sun it stayed on my face, and about 5-6 hours in the evening.

As for pores IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE off course it wont magically make them disappear but it does kick them back to a certain extent. With the rest of makeup on top the pores disappear even more.
The application is quite amusing for me Needs a really small amount, all I did was blend and dabbed till it felt powdery. It feels lightweight so its perfect for the summers. I would suggest applying it over moisturizer since it tends to dry out skin.
Drawback:
It dries out skin massively, I have normal skin and it left patches of dry rugged skin on the places I applied. At first the results may seem amazing but the dryness that follows is a big turn off, so its not a primer for everyday use I use it occasionally and I'm quite happy.

-The Goods-
Hides Pores
Helps foundation last longer
Lightweight
Easy application
Travel friendl

-The Bads-
Pricey
Dries out skin
No oil control
Does not work on fine lines

-Overall-
Overall I love this product for special occasions. Its a repurchase for me for sure...

After 3 hours in the sun my makeup still looked fresh :D

-NYX Glitter Cream Palette-

Glittery eyes are the most talked about look everywhere now. With so many loose pigments by almost every brand we have thousands of options available to us from low end to high end. But the one thing I dread when it comes to glitter application is the hassle of applying it. The glue, the loose pigments, setting them, the fallouts all these things have kept me far faraway from glittery looks. But NYX comes to save with their line of Glitter Cream Palates.

They launched 12 sets and each set has 5 glittery colors in it. So we have plenty of options to choose from. So ever since I heard about them I had to get my hands on it.
They are available online with the price ranging from PKR 1200-PKR 1500.
I got mine as a gift from a friend after being unsuccessful at finding them at a lot of places.
Now this product has been criticized for being awful by almost everyone who I asked about it, but the glitters got the best of me and I still wanted to make it work.

-Product Description-
NYX Glitter Cream Palette is a Multipurpose gel-based glitter combination in a pallet. NYX Glitter Cream Palette comes with 5 shades of glitter, 2 applicators with 3 sponge tips and 1 brush tip. Apply to eyes, lips and face - anywhere you want that sparkling effect!

-My Experience-
The first look at the palate was amazing. I opened it and swatched it the moment I got them.
The swatches were a disappointment, I expected the glitter to be fine and smooth but instead it was chunky and the pigmentation was really off. Its like glitter mixed in Vaseline.
Once you get past the initial 'WOW GLITTER' stage, underneath is a mix of a Vaseline-like substance with glitter here and there. I can't really describe what the effect was like but it wasn't pretty; my eyes looked a complete mess. I tried and tried to work with it but it seems you get more Vaseline than you do actual glitter. Its pretty greasy for eye shadow so it also creases very easily, about 2-3 hours.

How To Make It Work ?
I'll be honest, I was a little confused as to what I should use to apply the shadow - I played about with the applicators the palette came with, but ended up using my fingers in the end as it seemed to make the shadow apply a bit smoother.
The thing I noticed is that it works better if you apply it after putting on some eye shadow of the same color since the pigmentation is very poor the eye shadow base will give it more support. Even after that you would need at least 2-3 layers to get a good payoff.
Another thing I can use this palette as a base for loose glitters, you sandwich this after your eye shadow and before the actual glitters.
-The Good's-
Huge variety of colors
Affordable
Multi Purpose

-The Bad's-
Creases fast
Primer needed before application
Bad Pigmentation
Colors are good only if used over an eye shade
Glitters are not very fine. Chunky pieces of glitter.
Doesn't blend out well

-Overall-
Overall I would not advice you to spend on this palate at all. Unless you plan to use it as a glitter base or if you have the patience to build up the pigmentation.
Since I love the white and golden color here i will try and work my way around it with a few other techniques and keep you ladies posted !!

-Favorite Summer Fragrance-

-The Body Shop Strawberry EDT-

So with the summers right over our heads, it's a need for every person to maintain personal hygiene and keep smelling good.
With temperatures reaching over 40 in the day I cannot bear the smell of those over powering strong perfumes, those fragrances mixed with the heat of the scotching sun is just like an asthma attack.
So strong perfumes is a big NO NO for me in the summers. But then again I do need something that can stand against the heat and stop me from smelling like fried onions.
This summer for me is all about fruits and sweetness. Even when it comes to perfumes and sprays. Iv been hooked  to the subtle ness of these light scented smells.

My favorite so far has been the Strawberry Eau De Toilette by the Body Shop.Iv been obsessed by strawberries thanks to this. It costs PKR 1650 for a small 30 ml bottle which lasts me about 20-30 days.

-Product Description-
A sweet and sumptuous fruity floral fragrance inspired by the fresh smell of wild strawberries. Its mouth-watering scent is combined with energetic citrus and delicate floral with underlying notes of sandalwood and musk. This fragrance offers a delicious intensity.

-My Experience-
So TBS launched this a couple of years back, stopped it then again started it (THANKGOD).
The scent is sweet and subtle without being overpowering. Really refreshing so that makes it a perfect day time wear for me. Its the perfect smell of summers to give you that kick of freshness. Putting this on literally makes me smell like strawberries its so yummy.
This is just fresh, juicy, yummy strawberry all the way
You will like it if you like light fruity smells. This is not anything strong. The smell stays on me for a good 4-5 hours after that I feel I have a need to respray since its an EDT I dont really mind. If you are using it along side the body butter then it stays on longer.
Its a small 30 ml bottle which if you ask me ends very soon, maybe its just me since I keep spraying it on every now and then. For 1650 its surely worth a try though.

-The Good's-
Refreshing
Perfect Summer Smell
Pocket Friendly
Size makes it easy to carry
Yummy Fruity Smell

-The Bad's-
Staying power

-Blow Dry Like A Pro-

Don't blow dry soaking wet hair
Let your hair dry so its only slightly damp before you blowdry it, this reduces unnecessary damage to the hair. You also can use a lower setting on your dryer also lessening the damage! If you blowdry soaking wet hair you will scorch the hair and that's a definite way to damage your locks.
Removing excess water before blowdrying will also speed up the process. your hair wont need as long under the dryer.
If you apply styling products on hair that is too wet, the product will be diluted and might not work.

Its all in the sectioning
If you watch any professional hairdresser they will start at the nape of the neck and fastening any hair not being styled out the way.
Make sure you let down small enough sections of hair that you can control easily. Dry each small section thoroughly before moving on.
Work up the head, once back is dry, take a section from the bottom of the side of your head working up again. Repeat on other side

Using the right tools
Get a lightweight hairdryer so you can hold for long periods of time without arm ache.
Don't choose a dryer that's too powerful. You don't want to over dry the hair, or blast the hair without control.
Make sure you use the air -focusing nozzle this helps you control the hair as without it, your hair will be blasted randomly, making it harder to style and even tangled.
The correct brush for the style desired is also important. You wont get volume with a paddle brush. I will do a separate post in getting the correct brush.
For the moment get confident in controlling the dryer and brush together before worrying about this too much.

Perfecting your aim
Always start drying any section of hair from the root down making sure the hair is caught across the bristles of your brush. Now aiming the air down the hair move the brush and dryer together towards the ends of your hair.
I hope this helps you feel more confident when blow drying your hair in the future! If you have any requests or questions don't hesitate to leave a comment below.
Do you have any issues with your hair, or problems styling it??

-Spend Or Save?-

Im a shopaholic when it comes to makeup. well most of us girls are arent we ?
With so many brands being out there it is impossible to be able to afford the best of everything out there

However, in some situations it's very important to spend a little extra to get good quality products. The question is, what type of products require this more than others?

Here's my take on what I believe are the best makeup items to spend or save on!

Foundation- Spend Spend Spend
Foundation is the most important part of your makeup routine. It is the base of your makeup, and a strong flawless base will make a flawless painting ALWAYS.If you have a brilliant foundation, it will act as a primer too and last all day. Also there are many other foundation attributes that only come with certain higher end foundations. For example, if you're particularly pale, dark, oily, dry, sensitive, blemish-prone or anything else that you find typical foundations do not cater perfectly for, investing in a good quality foundation is the way to go!

Face Primer - Save Save Save
I had no idea what primer was to be honest. It raged all over the market in the last few years. But if you already have a wonderful foundation to start with YOU DO NOT need to spend a chunk on an expensive primer.Although, it does depend on your skin type and condition. Some people who have very oily skin might find they need a mattifying primer to keep their face shine free throughout the day, and a primer does help even out any blemishes before you attack them with concealer and foundation. I recommend substituting a mattifying moisturizer for a primer to help save money. I use Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturizer under my makeup and it does the job perfectly!

Concealer - Save Save
To clarify, when I talk about concealer I mean concealer for blemishes (not for under the eyes, which I will talk about in the correctors section.) As I said above in relation to face primer, if you have a good foundation you shouldn't need an amazing concealer. A cheap Maybelline concealer (PKR 975) should be able to give you enough coverage under that foundation. However, if you find you have particularly blemish-prone skin or you have redish areas, a good quality concealer might be the best solution! I actually don't use concealer anymore since I got Benefit's Hello Flawless Foundation (PKR 3650)

Correctors - Spend Spend
Correctors such as the ones you'd use under your eyes are generally difficult to find at all in pharmacies/drugstores, never mind trying to look for a good quality one there! It's also sometimes hard to find the right colour to correct your under eye circles and suit your skin tone at the same time. For this reason, if you find you have dark under eye areas, I would definitely recommend buying a good under eye corrector. I use Benefit's Erase Paste under my eyes which I find is a perfect shade to counteract those stubborn dark under eye circles!

Eye Primer - Spend
Eye primer has a function: to stop eyeshadow from creasing and to make colours show up better. Something with a function this specific means you'll have to spend money on it. Eyeshadow primers either work or don't, so make sure you invest wisely on one that does. My eyeshadow primer of choice is Urban Decay's Primer Potion rarely fails me! Since we sometimes tend to buy local drugstore brands here in Khi so getting a good primer to get max colour payoff and stay is always smart :)
Eyeshadow - Save
Unless you are a MUA you don't need to spend thousands on different eye shade palates. If you already have a real good primer then just get a couple of good drugstore options to work with them.

Mascara - Save
Mascara doesn't actually make that much difference to your eyes. What really works is curling them and THEN applying a mascara. For best results I'd recommend a waterproof type, but the main thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't need to be an expensive brand. Mascara is mascara, and most of them work the same. I love the Maybelline Colossal Waterproof mascara and always use it after curling my lashes!

Liners - Save Save Save
Whether it be eyeliners, lip liners or even pencils for your brows, there is very little difference between the cheap brands and high end brands when it comes to quality. Save your money here and aim for local brands, the ones you can find at any makeup store here. Should not cost you more then PKR 300 trust me my local eye liner (PKR 100) and my Body Shop EyeLiner (PKR 1000) have exactly the same results.

Blush/Bronzer/Powder - Save
As with liners, blush, bronzers and general setting powders can be found in local stores with great quality! So if you want to save money, aim for cheap brands as above!

Lipstick - Save Save Save
Lipsticks by cheaper brands are becoming better and better. While high end lipsticks can be amazing, local versions are brilliant too. They are some of the best lipsticks out there on the market, and for the price you can afford to get multiple shades instead of splashing out on one expensive lipstick!

Brushes - Save
Brushes are usually given crazy expensive prices by high end brands. Even brushes that you'd find in pharmacies are usually way overpriced. I know some people believe if you have good tools this will reflect in your makeup, but you can get brilliant brushes out there for a fraction of the price of high end brushes! I love Elf makeup brushes. They're amazing quality and do the job as well as you could expect. Best of all, they're super cheap!

Do you agree or disagree ?

-One More Bite By Wardah-

So I have been hearing my fellow admin over at the food group go on and on about trying cupcakes from a home based baker.
Since so many home made bakeries have mushroomed over the last years, Its sometimes really confusing as to who to try, pure overwhelming to be honest.
But with the sky high prices and several mediocre experience I decided to stick to the regular places.

So we were having an official Karachi Food Critics BBQ and for desserts we ordered
But honestly I am really glad I tried this place.
Ordered 1 dozen Red Velvet
with cream cheese frosting & Half a Dozen Chocolate cupcakes
also with cream cheese.

-Packaging-
They were very neatly packed, and had separators hence they didn't mush into each other which is such an amazing thing.

-The Product/ Taste-
-Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting-
The Red Velvet's were nice, Iv had better I won't say its the best ones i'v had. The base of the cupcake was perfect but the cream cheese frosting was tasteless and needed corrections.
But I loved the personalized fondant work on top along with the added walnuts.
Shows how carefully the lady makes her cupcakes.
-Chocolate Cupcakes with Rainbow Frosting-
Now i loved the rainbow frosting on the chocolate cupcakes, IT WAS DIVINE ..
They looked so appealing to the eyes that I had to resist my self to attack them the second that they arrived.
The taste of the choco cupcakes was better then the Red Velvet's, but again the frosting lacks the sweetness kick.
Overall I would say it is a really good effort since the dedication and hard work is clearly shown but with room for improvement.
-The Good's-
Affordable
Amazing packing
Personalized designs that looks really appealing
Soft airy cupcake

-The Bad's-
Cream Cheese Frosting lacks the right amount of sweetness.

-Vaseline uses you didn't know about-

OK so who doesn't have a tub of Vaseline lying around in the house?
Personally it was the one thing I always saw around the house, but found it so weird that I almost hated it.
UNTILL I grew up and found out all the other amazing things it could be used for apart from cracked heels :p

Well everyone knows about the common uses. duh its VASELINE
But found a couple of lesser known uses for you guys
Here is a list for my favorite uses for Vaseline..

1. Tweezing made easy:
Lessen the pain from plucking. Coat the area in Vaseline first for quicker less painful removal of hair. yayy

2. Make up remover
Some mascaras are so hard to remove right ? Takes ages.
Or the days when you are out of a make up remover.
Worry no more Vaseline is here to save the day
You can use Vaseline to take off mascara, eye-liner, lipstick, foundation etc. Just be careful not to get any in your eyes.

3.Stuck Nail polishes
Who doesn't have a bottle of nail polish with the cap glued to it for all eternity
Put a coat of Vaseline around the rim of the bottle & tadaaa Stop the lids sticking shut on your nail varnish.

4.Gum stuck to your hair anyone ?
Use Vaseline to remove chewing gum from your hair.

5. Use to it protect your scalp while dying hair.
Rub Vaseline along hairline before dying your hair. It will act as a barrier to stop staining of the skin.

6.Tame your brows.
Stick a tiny bit of Vaseline on your finger and run over your brows to smooth and set them. Much cheaper than eyebrow gel.

7. Spot Saver
If you squeeze a spot, dab a thin layer of Vaseline on it to keep from scabbing over.

8.Thicker Fuller Lashes
Coat your eyelashes before you go to bed. Apparently it will make your lashes grow thicker and longer.

9.Highlighter
Don't own a highlighter NO PROBLEMO
Apply Vaseline on cheeks and  use as a highlighter, just a tiny amount ladies.

10.Tight shoes NO MORE
Do you have a pair of really uncomfortable shoes? Apply a thick layer of Vaseline to the inside of the shoes it prevents rubbing.

11.Perfume PRIMER (yes i just invented that word)
Who wants to stink in summers ?
Perfume just seems to vanish in hours
Lengthen the life of perfume. if you find the smell of perfume disappears to quickly dab your finger in Vaseline then apply to your wrists, neck etc then spray your perfume on top it will hold the smell for longer.

12.Eye makeup
No time for eye makeup Or any kind of makeup?
Applied as eye shadow for a shiny dewy look.

13.Body Scrub
Mix Vaseline with sea salt and you have made a new body scrub.

14.Mousturizer
Can be used as a facial moisturizer but only use a tiny amount.
Use to moisturizes really dry skin
Put Vaseline on your cuticles everyday for softer cuticles.

Hope it helps, If you guys have any more unique uses do comment below :)

-What Do I Carry?-

So a lot of people have been asking me lately & wondering that what do I usually carry in my bag ?
Well to be completely honest it keeps changing every time I go out, so i'm thinking to make this a  regular post :)

Someday's its nothing more then a compact and perfume other days its over flowing with stuff.
It all depends on the occasion and the look I am going for mostly.

But well since summer is right here, these are the things I carry the most with me.
MY SUMMER ESSENTIALS
Maybelline's Fit Me Pressed Powder in Golden Beige
Terry Richards Lip Gloss in Pouting Pink
Body Shop Strawberry Eu De Toilette (My latest obsession)
Loreal Extra Intense Eye Liner
Bobbi Brown Blush in Plum Wine 9
The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain Limited Edition
Dior 644 Pink
MAC Stain in Pink 03
Body Shop Kabuki Brush

Bag from Debenham's Classics range.

The Maybelline's Fit Me Pressed Powder is the best thing to have happened to me this summer. Since I'm in love with the whole range I carry this everywhere with me. It has never disappointing me. Available easily at any Maybelline Kiosk Got mine for PRK1100.
Terry Richards Lip Gloss in Pouting Pink I got these in a set of 3 and this is the best lip gloss iv used so far, gives me a tinty coverage with the needed shine and really pretty smell.Sadly it is not available locally got mine from US for $15 for a pack of 3. So if you can get your hands on it do try it.
Body Shop's Strawberry Eu De Toilette I have been obsessed with this lately. Like literally obsessed with smelling like strawberries. Got this a couple of days back from a TBS outlet for PKR1650. As much as I love the smell don't expect it to last more then 2-3 hours at max. I have to keep this with me for re application every now and then.
L'Oreal Extra Intense Eye Liner So this is my current pencil eye liner after being disappointed with the Maybelline's Kajal. It's much darker then that and has a pretty good hold. Will wait a few days before I give a final comment on it.
Bobbi Brown Blush In Plum Wine A bit too dark for the day but perfect for the night.
Dior644 This is my favorite reddish pink lippie in my collection and sadly is coming to an end. Repurchase for sure
MAC LipStain In Pink This is one product I have no words about it i have a love/hate relationship with it, Was given as a gift. It's not a lipstick since it has a translucent finish but perfect for using as a lip stain above a light colored balm
Last but not the least my TBS Kabuki Brush this limited edition is the best brush I have ever gotten. Veen in love with it ever since I laid hands on it. The ultimate brush for Blushing and several other things.

I really hope you guys enjoyed reading this, since i'm thinking about making it a regular section in the blog :)
What are the essentials you dont leave home without ?

-HAND FOOD BY SOAP & GLORY-

So today I will review the much raved about hand cream by Soap and Glory.
I had heard so many things about it and since every page on face book had it. I had to get it for my self and see what all the hype is about ?

It is available on most of the pages on face book, and can also be preordered if its not in stock.

-Product Description-
A non-greasy hand cream with Shea butter, macadamia oil, and marshmallow.
Claims to soften, smoothen, and soothe dry, chapped, or otherwise hampered hands.

-My Experience-
This product reminds me of strawberry and marshmallows the second I look at it.The quality of packaging is very ordinary but I love the color combination. Like every other Soap & Glory product this smells delicious like I could almost eat it & it would taste like marshmallows (don't try it though hehe).
The cream itself effective, instantly softens the skin. Some people may not like the sweet sugary marshmallow scent but I love it, it's just what your hands need. The price is so affordable and a 125 ml tube really lasts long.
The texture of the cream is very light non greasy. I cant stand the heavy coated feeling of the creams so this is the perfect product as i feel nothing at all. Best part is its really quick drying leaving my hands soft and supple without any oil.
After using this for a few week my hands are softer, my nails and cuticles look so much healthier. I will definitely be repurchasing.
Comes in two sizes the 125 ml and the travel size and I have both so it makes it so much more easier for me to carry it around where ever i want. :)

-The Good's-
Smells amazing
Little goes a long way
Affordable
Doesn't look oily
Doesn't feel heavy

-The Bad's-
Not avaialbe locally

-The Koel Cafe-

Tucked away in Clifton Block 4, Koel has always been an escape from the madness of city life. Known for its great ambiance, friendly staff and good value for money Koel has been around for quite a while now.

 -AMBIANCE-
When you enter into this place you realize its more then just a restaurant, a sudden rush of relaxation goes through your whole body. A place where you can find great comfort food and with impeccable service.
Personally iv always been in love with the amazing interior of the place, its magicstic & natural without over doing it. Every single detail has been carefully worked upon.

 -MENU-
The menu is a blend of a little bit of a lot of things but mostly I  find it leaning towards the desi traditional items more. The Kulcha sandwiches are one of the most raved about appetizer in the menu. The Imli sherbet the shikanj-been are both were very refreshing and my favorite two drinks on the menu.
-ORDER-
So this time around went on a friends recommendation and tried the Moroccan Chicken & Parmesan Chicken.
MOROCCAN CHICKEN
Two perfect fillets of chicken marinated in the traditional Pakistani spices, each bite contained bags of flavors. The red chili, lemon zest and herbs blended perfectly with the creamy spicy sauce they were mixed with, giving it such a twist to the normal flavorings of a Moroccan chicken.
Was served along with garlic rice and some veggies which were also cooked to perfection

PARMESAN CHICKEN
This was my favorite, chicken covered with Parmesan cheese, herbs and bread crumbs. Simple flavors which tasted truly amazing. Was served with veggies sauteed in oyster sauce making it a favorite.

For drinks we had Cinnamon & Cardamon Tea both of which were just perfect.
The presentation of the dishes is artsy & appetizing.
