-Spend Or Save?-

Im a shopaholic when it comes to makeup. well most of us girls are arent we ?
With so many brands being out there it is impossible to be able to afford the best of everything out there

However, in some situations it's very important to spend a little extra to get good quality products. The question is, what type of products require this more than others?

Here's my take on what I believe are the best makeup items to spend or save on!

Foundation- Spend Spend Spend
Foundation is the most important part of your makeup routine. It is the base of your makeup, and a strong flawless base will make a flawless painting ALWAYS.If you have a brilliant foundation, it will act as a primer too and last all day. Also there are many other foundation attributes that only come with certain higher end foundations. For example, if you're particularly pale, dark, oily, dry, sensitive, blemish-prone or anything else that you find typical foundations do not cater perfectly for, investing in a good quality foundation is the way to go!

Face Primer - Save Save Save
I had no idea what primer was to be honest. It raged all over the market in the last few years. But if you already have a wonderful foundation to start with YOU DO NOT need to spend a chunk on an expensive primer.Although, it does depend on your skin type and condition. Some people who have very oily skin might find they need a mattifying primer to keep their face shine free throughout the day, and a primer does help even out any blemishes before you attack them with concealer and foundation. I recommend substituting a mattifying moisturizer for a primer to help save money. I use Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturizer under my makeup and it does the job perfectly!

Concealer - Save Save
To clarify, when I talk about concealer I mean concealer for blemishes (not for under the eyes, which I will talk about in the correctors section.) As I said above in relation to face primer, if you have a good foundation you shouldn't need an amazing concealer. A cheap Maybelline concealer (PKR 975) should be able to give you enough coverage under that foundation. However, if you find you have particularly blemish-prone skin or you have redish areas, a good quality concealer might be the best solution! I actually don't use concealer anymore since I got Benefit's Hello Flawless Foundation (PKR 3650)

Correctors - Spend Spend
Correctors such as the ones you'd use under your eyes are generally difficult to find at all in pharmacies/drugstores, never mind trying to look for a good quality one there! It's also sometimes hard to find the right colour to correct your under eye circles and suit your skin tone at the same time. For this reason, if you find you have dark under eye areas, I would definitely recommend buying a good under eye corrector. I use Benefit's Erase Paste under my eyes which I find is a perfect shade to counteract those stubborn dark under eye circles!

Eye Primer - Spend
Eye primer has a function: to stop eyeshadow from creasing and to make colours show up better. Something with a function this specific means you'll have to spend money on it. Eyeshadow primers either work or don't, so make sure you invest wisely on one that does. My eyeshadow primer of choice is Urban Decay's Primer Potion rarely fails me! Since we sometimes tend to buy local drugstore brands here in Khi so getting a good primer to get max colour payoff and stay is always smart :)
Eyeshadow - Save
Unless you are a MUA you don't need to spend thousands on different eye shade palates. If you already have a real good primer then just get a couple of good drugstore options to work with them.

Mascara - Save
Mascara doesn't actually make that much difference to your eyes. What really works is curling them and THEN applying a mascara. For best results I'd recommend a waterproof type, but the main thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't need to be an expensive brand. Mascara is mascara, and most of them work the same. I love the Maybelline Colossal Waterproof mascara and always use it after curling my lashes!

Liners - Save Save Save
Whether it be eyeliners, lip liners or even pencils for your brows, there is very little difference between the cheap brands and high end brands when it comes to quality. Save your money here and aim for local brands, the ones you can find at any makeup store here. Should not cost you more then PKR 300 trust me my local eye liner (PKR 100) and my Body Shop EyeLiner (PKR 1000) have exactly the same results.

Blush/Bronzer/Powder - Save
As with liners, blush, bronzers and general setting powders can be found in local stores with great quality! So if you want to save money, aim for cheap brands as above!

Lipstick - Save Save Save
Lipsticks by cheaper brands are becoming better and better. While high end lipsticks can be amazing, local versions are brilliant too. They are some of the best lipsticks out there on the market, and for the price you can afford to get multiple shades instead of splashing out on one expensive lipstick!

Brushes - Save
Brushes are usually given crazy expensive prices by high end brands. Even brushes that you'd find in pharmacies are usually way overpriced. I know some people believe if you have good tools this will reflect in your makeup, but you can get brilliant brushes out there for a fraction of the price of high end brushes! I love Elf makeup brushes. They're amazing quality and do the job as well as you could expect. Best of all, they're super cheap!

Do you agree or disagree ?
